Canoeing - CANOE
Come and journey in open canoes down part of Scotland’s fastest flowing river, the Spey. In the evenings we will wild camp beside the river: setting up tipits, cooking food over a fire and washing up together. There is time for games and crafts or maybe some wild swimming. We finish the evening by the campfire exploring what the Bible might have to say to us. It's an opportunity to live in and experience the outdoors in a different way to our usual lives.
If the picture that creates in your mind gets you excited, we'd love you to join us. SU Holidays will provide all the outdoor equipment you need, just bring yourself, lots of energy and enthusiasm and some determination. No canoeing or camping experience necessary, this will be an adventure to remember, with new friends made, skills learnt and honed and plenty to talk about when you get home.
Some things that are good to know:
- there will be no access to showers during the trip and toilets vary each night - some are indoor, normal toilets, some are outdoor, dug toilets. We will use good outdoor practice for toileting and washing – don’t worry if you’ve never done it before, we can give you plenty of top tips and handy hints.
- if the weather is really too bad for camping, we have basic, indoor accommodation available. Should the river conditions make river canoeing impossible, we will use an alternative canoeing venue or alternative activities (selection of trail biking, hill walking, gorge walking, crate climbing, archery and abseiling).
Whatever happens, we will have some great adventures together.
